We read everything. DreaMatinee is a small production — replies come from the people who made it.

Common questions

How do I make my first poster?

Open DreaMatinee, tap the microphone (or type) on the Capture tab, and describe last night's dream. Saving the journal entry is always free — developing it into a poster is one more tap, and your first poster, including its living poster, is free.

Why does DreaMatinee need an iPhone with Apple Intelligence?

The interpretation and the poster artwork are generated by Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models and Image Playground) on your device or in Apple's Private Cloud Compute. That requires an iPhone 15 Pro or later running iOS 26 or later — and it's also why your dreams stay private: there is no DreaMatinee server in the loop.

Where are my dreams stored?

Only on your iPhone, inside the app. Nothing is uploaded anywhere by the app. Back up your iPhone (iCloud or a computer) if you want your archive preserved across devices — or export a journal package from the Archive (below) and keep the file wherever you like.

How do I back up or move my journal?

Open the Archive and use Export journal in the Journal package card — one file with every dream, poster, and living poster. On a new phone, install DreaMatinee and use Import journal in the same card (it's there even before your first dream). Importing adds what's missing and never overwrites what's already here. Keep the file somewhere private: it isn't encrypted, so anyone who has it can read your journal.

How does the morning reminder work?

It's optional and off until you turn it on: Archive → the bell (Settings) → Morning reminder, at the time you choose. It's a local iOS notification with generic text — nothing from your dreams is ever in it, and nothing is sent anywhere.

What does the app lock do?

In the same Settings sheet, "Require Face ID to open" makes the app ask iOS for Face ID — or your passcode — before the journal opens. While it's on, the widgets show a generic capture prompt instead of your latest poster. The passcode always works as a way back in.

How do I capture a dream without opening the app first?

Add the DreaMatinee control to your Lock Screen or Control Center, use the "Capture a Dream" shortcut in Shortcuts (Siri can run it too), or assign it to the Action Button. Each opens the app with the microphone already listening — the first time, iOS asks for microphone and speech permission.

How do the free trial and subscriptions work?

Premiere is $6.99/week or $39.99/year (US pricing), each starting with a 3-day free trial for new subscribers. Apple charges your account when the trial converts unless you cancel first. Manage or cancel anytime: iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or the Manage Subscription link inside DreaMatinee. Moving to a new phone? Use Restore in the app while signed in to the same Apple Account.

The widget isn't showing my latest poster

Open DreaMatinee once — the app refreshes the widget whenever a poster is saved and when the archive opens. If it still looks stale, remove the widget and add it again; iOS occasionally holds onto an old widget timeline.

Can DreaMatinee read my photo library?

No. The app has add-only Photos permission, used only when you tap Save in the share studio. It cannot see your existing photos.

How do I delete a dream — or everything?

Long-press a poster in the Archive to delete that dream, use Delete in a dream's detail view, or use the trash control in the Archive to clear everything. Deleting the app removes all of its on-device data, including the widget's copy of your latest poster.

What does a reading mean? Can it tell my future?

Readings are reflection prompts for journaling and entertainment, built from classic dream-symbol themes. They don't predict anything — see the Terms of Use.
